Ready for Fall: Game On Tablescape!

Welcome to Panoply and almost fall! Are you ready for fall?! It's "Game On" for me today, as in a game on fall tablescape.
Today I am hosting a bevy of bloggers who are all excited to share their ideas for fall tablescaping in a Welcome Fall Tablescape Blog Hop. Be sure to see the complete list near the end of this post and visit each one. You will be thoroughly entertained and inspired!
I set my Welcome Fall: Game On Tablescape! with an eye on transitioning toward fall decor in our home. While the title may have led you to think it would be a football themed tablescape, the play on words was intentional, I must admit. I love a mix of masculine and feminine touches in my decor, and this table is all that. I've mentioned before my tablescapes become part of my decor until put into service.

Besides the tablescape, I've changed out the most prevalent wall art in the dining room as part of my seasonal decor.
A recent find at a local, prominent estate, the framed oil painting lends itself toward a transitional look from summer to fall. Without a big commitment budget-wise (it was purchased on 50% discount day), it was a good fit for the room and my tablescapes for fall. The bowl of artichokes and pitcher of feathers and dried lily pods were prior finds.
The elements for this tablescape - typical of my style - are a mix of metals, vintage/new items, and masculine/feminine appeal.
My plate stack starts with a navy charger anchoring a zebra dinner, leopard salad and jeweled / feathered bread/butter or appetizer plate. The twig flatware is my favorite fall choice.  Table linens include a vintage linen runner in neutral with a hemstitch and wide crocheted tasseled trim.
Double napkins are newer:  a navy linen with hemstitch trim over an abstract cotton floral printed one, trimmed in grosgrain navy ribbon. Drinkware for the occasion is a smokey blue glass and copper mug. Cheeky giraffe swizzle sticks are used as stirrers for the mugs.
Napkin rings are authentically African, safari animals carved of wood and hand-painted.
A primitive dough bowl is filled with scavenged pine cones, harvested lavender and deer sheds woven among a metal sphere and string of lights.
Next to the fireplace in the dining room, I arranged a vase with feathers, cotton bolls, and a fig tree branch with attached fruit.
The bookcase in the dining room to the right of the fireplace becomes an integral part of the fall decor and tablescape too.
Evening candlelight comes by way of pewter bases with etched glass hurricanes.
I've loved incorporating more blue into my decor in this cottage home. Lighter blues as well as navy blue are classic for any season. Why I never used them much before is beyond me.

Now, for your pure entertainment, below is the list of bloggers who have prepared a Welcome Fall table for you. I encourage you to visit each one, as the ideas are as varied as the person presenting them.

  1. Swoon Rita! What a handsome table and mix of dinnerware, colors and textures! Those navy chargers with the faux bamboo gold trim are gorgeous. Love the mix of animal prints (and animals) and pop of pattern in your layered napkins. Your table would work for any season as well as your coordinating shelving and décor. I bet the mister appreciates your handsome table setting and your restraint from overfilling your shelving and tabletops. Thank you for all your organizing efforts for these hops…I so appreciate you! Happy Tuesday. ♥

  9. What a great theme for fall. Are your navy chargers trimmed with gold (or are they on a gold tray?). So stylish!! Napkin rings are a perfect addition, too. Your room is lovely and I wish I had built in bookshelves! I have a similar blue pumpkin! Thanks for hosting!

  11. Yep, you got me --- I thought it might be a WVU vs Pitt theme table for the renewed Backyard Brawl. I'm a sucker for a "wild thing" theme like the decor in my youngest son's/now guest bedroom. Love your mix and match styling, as always! Your tablescape is perfect for transitioning to fall. Have to admit though, I kept lingering over the photos of that stunning painting you recently acquired --- what a find! The frame is quite similar the huge mirror in our living room. If you ever decide to transition it to your shop, please let me know.

  14. Rita, first off...thank you for hosting. I know the work involved as I have passed that way before. Good job with your simple yet instructional steps toward each blogger's presentations. That said, your table and surrounding areas of decor are beautiful. Incorporating the blues makes me want to sing...but not the blues. LOL The jungle animals slipping into your tablescape via napkin rings and plates are intriguing and a delight for the eye. What a find the painting is and you are inspiring me to change out my art pieces for the seasons too...Have a Blessed Autumn my friend.

  15. What a gorgeous table, Rita! But first I must comment on the landscape: What do you know about the artist? I think it is stunning! I also love the wild touches on your dining room table. The napkin rings are darling! But my favorite: The crocheted and tasseled table runner. I have really been drawn to textures lately, and I think the runner is perfect for fall. Beautiful table as always, Rita. Thanks so much for hosting the hop! I always look forward to them.

  23. Rita, your tablescape is so luscious! Those chargers steal my heart, you would know with that deep navy hue! I think the color would match my formal dining room walls perfectly! Your plate stack is great! The mix of pattern on pattern is a great combination and mixes so well with your gathered items in your centerpiece. I love all of the texture those items along with those in the vase by your fireplace bring. Who would have thought to change out your artwork with the seasons? Now I am wondering about a piece I have hanging in a bedroom and if I could move it someplace else in the house!

  24. How beautiful Rita! I love the mix of colors and of course FALL. I always learn something from you each blog. Today's is 'deer shed'!!! Married to an avid deer hunter.....we have many 'deer sheds' and some are still attached...(antlers, skull). I had never heard of them being referred to as sheds. My lesson for today!

  25. What a delightful table setting, Rita. I really liked how you co-ordinated the painting and it's frame with the choice of china on the table. Black and gold is a favorite color combination and you used it so well here. The subtle color picked up by the centerpiece works really well and echoes the subdued color in the painting. Loved the zebra plate that co-ordinated with the African animal napkin rings. Thanks, again, for co-ordinating the "hop". It's a delight to be part of it all.

  30. Rita, Your table setting is certainly an inspiration for autumn decor. I love your signature style of mixing elements. The masculine and feminine is spot on. I love your mix of metals and the animal safari napkin rings are gorgeous and perfect with this scape. My eye also goes directly to the place setting stack, chargers and flatware. Very sophisticated and elegant Rita. Happy September Rita........

  31. Rita, I think you outdid yourself with this uber gorgeous table. It's not easy to mix warm and cool colors with many different items on one table and still get the balance right the way you did. Of course, I'm in love with the feather plates, but the addition of the hand-carved napkin rings, antiqued wood dough bowl, and organic dried lavender and pinecones add a ton of warmth. The picture was a great deal. I think I would have purchased it even at full price :)
Thanks for hosting another fun blog hop. I really appreciate being asked to participate.
    Hugs,
    Rachell

  33. I've never thought to use navy either but it's beautiful with your decor. Love those chargers and the table runner but all the little animal details took it over the top. Hope you really enjoy it this season and having a working fireplace near the table... Heck yeah!

  34. Good morning, Rita. Such an interesting and pretty table. It would provide wonderful conversation. I love the navy - I am a blue girl. Most all shades of blue make me happy. I think you may find you will fall deeper in love the more you use it. Have a great week!

  35. I loved how unexpected your table is! The various "game" patterns on the plates pair well with the navy napkins and chargers and fit comfortably with the more conventional fall decor in the centerpiece. Truly creative!
I also wanted to thank you again for organizing the tablescape hop with the "herd" of us. Have a wonderful weekend!

  36. Just gorgeous Rita! The blues are beautiful and your theme is so unique. I was fixated though on the clock on the bookshelf. I was trying to remember where I had seen it before. It finally dawned on me that it was on my Grandmother's mantel long ago. So pretty! Thank you for putting this blog hop together. You are all so talented and I always enjoy seeing your latest tablescapes. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Have a wonderful week ahead!

The plate stack is beautiful and I love the mix of metals and wood and textures that you've brought to the table and the background bookcase is the perfect backdrop. The napkin rings are so unique and I love love love that vintage table runner. When you posted a tour of your sweet booth in the antique mall, I could see all those tempting vintage linens and I wished I was there in person for a closer look. Beautiful table!
