Hey, y'all. When I started this blog in 2013 its original purpose was to be able to have one place to journal and share vintage finds and antique mall booth displays with my two sisters who, together with me, comprise Panoply. It's become more of a lifestyle blog, but its original purpose remains.

My sisters and I have remained in business at the South Charleston Antique Mall in South Charleston, WV since 2008. Three separate interstates go through the area (I-64, I-77 and I-79), with strategic billboards placed along each for high visibility. We are conveniently located off of Exit 56 on I-64.
Our mall closed for five weeks during the COVID lockdown from late March to mid-May. Since reopening, we have have had numerous travelers throughout the pandemic, stopping and shopping in our mall. With 18,000 square feet and three and half floors of space, one can easily shop in our antique mall with physical distance!
I'll try to get a post up sometime soon showing some of the 2020 Panoply displays in our antique mall spaces. We rent approximately 1,000 sq feet together, with 4-5 spaces styled, depending on how we divide and structure the displays.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed the virtual shopping! Thanks for dropping by. Stay well.

I'm impressed with your hauls! I love the vintage ice skates and the turkey oval platter is divine! I haven't been out shopping in so long. Chloe and I have plans to visit a furniture store on Friday to shop for office furniture. Hopefully, I can find something. Thanks for sharing your pretties!
ReplyDeleteRita, I'm blown away with the good stuff you found but those giraffe stir sticks really put a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful finds, glad your booth at the antique mall is still doing well. I have lost interest in my thrift store shopping, but perhaps when the pandemic is finally over, I'll find the fun in it again.
ReplyDeleteThis was a treat, Rita! Of course I love the various napkin rings, but it was the pair of quail that reminded me of my Grandma this morning; she had some similar that now belong to my Mom. Perhaps they'll be in my home someday. Thrifting/antique shopping is definitely different these days, but I've still managed to get in a few trips myself. And our favorite local auction has moved outside under a tent with social distancing, so we still manage an occasional outing. Otherwise, it's Renovation City around here.
ReplyDeleteLots of nice and wonderful things! We haven't been thrift/antique shopping in eons, and I miss it...even though we need to have a garage sale ourselves!
ReplyDeleteWow score girl. Glad the booth is doing well. Love all the sweet treasures. I cannot wait for the pandemic to be under control and we can find some new kind of normal. Have a great day. xoxo
ReplyDeleteRita, thanks for the virtual shopping excursion. You have found some fun things through the months. Antique shopping here has come to a hault. My favorite shop in nearby Georgetown did open for limited days and hours, but I've only ventured over once. We both know I don't need to buy more, but I do miss the fun of the hunt. No thrift stores open here as they are run by volunteers. I could stop into a Goodwill, but I only get out for groceries or necessary errands.
ReplyDeleteThat said, if the little tartan clothes brush is still available, please send me details. I think he would be a fun addition. Thanks for the "outing"!
I enjoyed seeing the items you found this year! I have the accordion sewing basket. 😁
ReplyDeleteRita, I love my virtual shopping with you and I saw many things I would love. I have done very little shopping since the pandemic started. I had a doctor’s appointment Monday in Birmingham and was excited to stop by Home Goods. I was so disappointed, the store was half empty. My favorite antique mall locally closed, the owners retired. I needed a little shopping therapy, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI could really enjoy your antique mall. There isn't any left in our town. You have so many unique and popular items. I would really enjoy examining all the pretty linens and I like the carnival glass.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to see your haul!
Oh, how I'd love to hit the road and visit your booth! You had some good finds here and I see many that I'd likely walk out with! Especially if I was driving! I love seeing the things you find in your hunts -- I know they'll go well.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the virtual shopping trip. I'm glad to see nothing has really slowed you down too much on your booth. I can tell how much it means to you. You should do these on Youtube like those "Haul" videos people are doing, to show what they got.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bunch of treasures! I loved that sewing basket and the marigold candy dishes! We have stayed much closer to home as Al stays with his 89 year old mother with dementia 2 days/ week. We went for a gallivant this week, however--2 thrift stores (one had a great sale as so much stuff had been donated, they had to reduce inventory!) and a library's used book store (paperback mysteries, my fave for 50 cents! The restaurant had a 45 minute wait so we had ice cream for lunch! Life is full of compromises! Although I'm just barely over booth rent, my mall has been busy with visitors. Pleased that some of the earrings I've made have sold!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting the blog with my vintage finds. It seems like we've been holed up, but doing a LOT of shopping just in recent weeks (this past one especially!). When my sisters and I get together (not that often), we usually have a lot to go through. Such was the case this weekend. I did a lot of personal shopping for them, and so we had to get it all sorted out, sharing, looking, laughing, and wasting a lot of time. It was great fun.
DeleteHey, we had ice cream one evening for dinner - who even knows what day it is, let alone what time?!
Looks like you found some awesome treasures! Antique shopping is one of my favorite ways to find decor, so I have been doing a lot of it now that my boyfriend and I moved into a new place. :)

It took me a couple of look thrus to see that those ice skates had tartan handled covers, oh so cute!! of course I love that Turkey Platter! I'm glad you gals have been able to keep selling, your mall sounds like a fabulous destination shopping experience. I just haven't been out except for the doctor's visits and hair appointments. Gotta have my salon visits, it keeps me feeling like a human! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWOW!! You really have been busy! Glad 'Rona hasn't kept you down. You have some true found treasures there, Rita! Well done!
ReplyDeleteStay safe, stay well. Big hugs.
hi Rita, I'm glad you've been able to shop and keep your booth open and refreshed. There is an estate sale in my neighborhood this weekend but they are getting so little traffic it's sad...pre-covid it would have been a mob scene! As for shopping, I haven't been anywhere except Dr. appts and grocery. I have learned that Amazon has just about everything under the sun, except for vintage of course! I have been filling even my art and craft supply needs through them. so I feel very lucky to have this shopping outlet during this time! I am so glad you and your sisters are able to keep your shop going and that you have traffic!

Great finds! I especially love the vintage skates with tartan carrying case, so fun!
ReplyDeleteI'd be a shopper at your antique mall, Rita. I love browsing even though I often don't buy a thing. It's always fun to see what you and your sisters find. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Rita, how wonderful you've had this vintage shopping to keep you busy during this stressful year. What a wonderful way to enjoy sister time as well. You've found so many lovely items to restock your inventory. A few items that caught my eye are the skates, vintage hankies and linens and the tablecloths. I could spend hours browsing in your booth. We are only doing necessary runs, groceries eat. I have not seen the inside of a shop since March. Thanks goodness for Amazon, they have kept this household going.............Enjoying my family here now and they've been dong the same, work and school from home. Take care Rita........
ReplyDeleteThroughout the years I have attended auctions, and quite aside from the treasures one might obtain, there is the pleasure of the process itself. I always liked the auctions where at least part of the sale was conducted outside. Generally, I am interested in old ornithological books, but sometimes wildlife carvings and art, and I have, like most auction goers I suspect, got a few really good deals, but also have watched items go for insane prices when two two determined bidders vie with each other. I suspect that the auction scene during COVID is at its lowest ebb in years, but of course there are so many online auctions these days.
ReplyDeleteOur best auction house here has been closed since March. It's a shame too, because it was a fun day of entertainment and good food. They don't do the outdoor tents (wish they did). I totally get the auction behavior, though. I've been on both ends of good deals and paying too much. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteRita, you are so busy. I am glad you are able to keep your shop open during this covid. Looks like wonderful treasures. How special to share with your sisters.
ReplyDeleteThis is impressive, Rita. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
ReplyDeleteRita, you girls found some awesome finds!!! I have a very few dog and cat statues and one is brass from the 1970's which my father brought home from a TDY trip with the USAF. I found two Staffordshire dog s/p shakers while in England in 2005, plus a sweet retriever statue.
ReplyDeleteHope you kept a few of your treasures! I'll share your post as the first feature at this upcoming week's Share Your Style #270. Thank you!! <3
Glad your mall store is hanging in there even with the virus,
Hugs,
Barb :)
Girl, what a great shopping trip! So many great finds you got there. So glad you could get out and do such a great outing. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteSome wonderful finds this year Rita, despite "everything" :) So hard to choose favorites, but I'll try: the Scottish clothes brush, the skates with the plaid carriers, the dance compact, and the fireman's badge--just to name a few :) Here's to more amazing vintage finds in the last third of the year!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at your finds! I have the fold out sewing box. It's about 35 years old.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, thanks so much! I'm thinking of repurposing my sewing box as a flat storage for some of my beaded, antique handbags. :)
DeleteSwooning! What a lucky junker and picker!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to feature you this week at TFT. Thanks for sharing!
wow...I saw some unique treasures. I remember those giraffe swizzle sticks and my mom have the plum sherbet dishes! The Waterford candlesticks are so pretty! It's so interesting to see what items are found in different parts of the country!
ReplyDeleteWhat a haul of treasure to be seen here, Rita. To wander through yours and your sister's booth would be the best fun, though I fear my purse would suffer. I must say I love the pretty blue and white chenille bedspread. Love those white skates, too.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your antique booth goodies and shopping! What a fun table those Derby glasses would make and I covet those bird napkin rings. The giraffe swizzle sticks are a hoot, I can see them on a fun safari table too. If you come across any children’s watering cans or any interesting antique garden books or goodies, I love to virtually shop with you...I’m having withdrawal. :)
