Hello, my pretties, and welcome to Panoply. Come in. Today I have prepared a Spellbound tablescape for you (spells not included!), celebrating the season of Halloween.
I am also your host today for a total of [lucky] thirteen tablescape enthusiasts putting their magic touch on tables in the spirit of Halloween. Don't be frightened, as these tables promise to be full of treats, no tricks. All the links to those tablescapes can be found further in this post. Most of what I'm using today I've had for awhile but not used until now. I bought the featured appetizer plates (Spellbound) two years ago but this is their debut. I feel the designs on each of the bat, witch accessories, crow, and black cat are very realistically rendered. Not that I would know what witch accessories look like in real life.๐
The salad plates were an estate sale find last year. They are cast iron (๐ฒ), made by Virginia Metalcrafters. There were only three, so I scoured eBay for a fourth, only to find a very similar pewter salad plate. The dinner plates are several years old, first used here. The tablecloth overlay was first used here.
Once I started pulling elements together, it became pretty clear that this tablescape would take on a monochromatic appearance to deliver the drama I was going for. The tablescape didn't seem to lend itself to flowers as a centerpiece. Instead, I brought out a pumpkin with crow perched upon it which I had also purchased last year. It sits in the center of a feathered wreath with only hints of purple on the backs of the feathers.
I didn't even remember buying the napkin rings when going through my inventory, but they were still in their original packaging, so they must've been purchased last year, too. The beading adds a bit of sparkle.
The candleholders and candles on the table were purchased this year. They add a bit of snake charm to the scene. Or more creepy drama, you be the judge and jury. The design on the bat plate immediately came to mind when I spotted these salt and pepper shakers at Cracker Barrel back in August. Aren't you happy they listened to consumers and kept their Old Country Store theme? They have some great retail items, and Mr. P. and I seemed to have officially sold them out of their gourmet chocolate mints. We can't even find them online anymore. The mushrooms as table decor just seemed another good alternative to flowers here. I wish the table was the only place I'm seeing mushrooms, but those things have taken over my grass this year! I'll spare those details for a garden update. When the fireplace and candles are lit in the dining room, the mood immediately turns to mysterious.Longtime readers, did you notice anything different in my dining room? I did a switch out of my dining room furniture mid-September. When we downsized in 2019 we moved into a condo and negotiated its dining table and chairs as part of the sale. I was never crazy about it, but when we moved back into this cottage home, it came with us. Long story short - I found this current Ethan Allen dining room table, chairs and sideboard in a consignment store in a nearby town. The owner agreed to consign mine, and I bought this set. The switch out moves were made all in one day. It was like a good witch waved her magic wand and...
...it was done! This dining room furniture has even received Mr. P.'s seal of approval, and I didn't even have to cast a spell on him! Here's a photo immediately after the move. The table has two leaves, and the chairs have navy-on-navy stripe upholstery.
This entire shuffle of furniture was all because of this little guy pictured below. He caught my eye in an August post on social media by the consignment shop. Needles to say, he's now a resident Halloween guest in our home.
I hope you've been a bit inspired today with my Spellbound Halloween Tablescape. As always, for my memory and for the chance you are interested, I provide my sources for elements used (no sponsorship or revenue affiliations):

Oooh Rita…your centerpiece is eerily perfect for your bewitching table! Love the touch of purple from the feathers in the wreath to pair with your perching crow and pumpkin. I love your Spellbound plates layered with the Thistle & Bee and accents of gold. So many spooky accents, especially your snake candleholders and those mushrooms spouting up from your spider overlay cloth. What a handsome table and sideboard! It looks like it’s in perfect condition with that glossy mirror finish. I know you were cackling with glee over your abracadabra switcheroo! Your pumpkin head is adorable too. Thanks so much for the Halloween fun this morning. I so appreciate all your organizing efforts!๐งน๐๐งก
ReplyDeleteGood morning Rita! You had me spellbound with your monochromatic table! The appetizer plates set the stage perfectly for all the elements that you have used. Cast iron salad plates, really? I didn’t know such a thing existed, but they look ideal! You could not have chosen a more perfect centerpiece. The pumpkin with crow perched which is on the ready to swoop down and cause chaos! The feathered wreath with hints of purple is a finishing touch for your centerpiece! The snake candle holders are very unique and certainly add more drama to the tablesetting. The Ethan Allen dining room table, chairs, and sideboard were a fabulous find and Mr. P affirmed must make you happy!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all you do to organize the hops!
Your new little guy is just too cute! And your table the epitome of spooky sophistication! I love your new little plates with the animals and the woven placemats really tie in the webby-tablecloth so well! Now, that new table is a hit! Well done on the consigning, Rita. I think you made a perfect switch. And I love the black feathers in the centerpiece. Truly, it's a table I'd love to be at!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely spellbound by your tablescape Rita! You have created such a spooky atmosphere with the spiderweb table cloth and all black and white color scheme. Those candlesticks are truly creepy!

I’m glad to know that I am not the only one who will buy plates, set them aside, and not use them for a couple of years. I thought it was just me. That said, these plates are really lovely. The whole look of your table is so Gothic. This totally plays into my wheelhouse.
ReplyDeleteRita, this dishaholic can totally relate to buying plates that I rediscover at just the right time, and yours are perfect for your spooky table! I love your centerpiece and those fabulous golden snake candle holders! Thanks for hosting us!
ReplyDeleteYour table is eerily bewitching, Rita! I love the plate stack and all the details. The tablecloth is perfect, as is your centerpiece. The candles and the mushrooms add to the mood. How great that the cute pumpkin head character led to your new table and chairs! Great job, Rita!
ReplyDeleteOh Rita...you have certainly captured the true essence of Halloween my friend. I love your new table and I know you must love the different shape from your other table. Easier to style isn't it? As to those snake candle holders....I would be afraid they would slither off the table in the night and right upon my bed....'shiver me timbers' for sure. Your plate stack is so cool with the appetizer plates and the cast iron salad plates...as they co ordinate beautifully with your center piece of pumpkin and feathers. I, too love to discover old items in new packaging when going through my stash as you did with your glitter pumpkin napkin rings. For me it is like Christmas, but then each time UPS arrives I feel the same way even if it is only a delivery of Madagascar Vanilla! Love the little happy pumpkin guy as he is smiling over the switcheroo of the tables...because he knows he planned the whole exchange. ๐๐ค๐ป๐๐ฝ️๐งน๐๐๐๐ฟ️๐
ReplyDeleteOh, my, Rita! This one tops the list! It's truly a stage setter! I have read through this one 3 times, focusing on each detail. It's fun to be your friend! I've done the same, bought something, packed it away, only to discover the next season and feel as if I've found treasure. My acorn beaded napkin rings are from MKC. They add sparkle, as you say. Of course the crow theme brought a smile. I've had such fun with these black birds this season. I've pinned several images. This tablescape is such a treat! Thanks for being our bloghop host. You are much appreciated! Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteWow, your tablescape is amazing, love the black and white!! Those plates are an awesome find, and so lucky to find a fourth that matches so well. How fun is the black crow on a black pumpkin, this table is a work of art. From the spiderweb tablecloth, to the creepy snake candleholders, it all works so well together. Fun find on the black S&Ps too!

DeleteRita! your table is perfectly oozing Halloween! I love the salad plates, the artwork and the border really appeal to me. You set them off beautifully with your plate stack. I got a huge kick out of the snake holders - I will have to check out Aldi's more often!! I am glad you were able to swap out your fabulous new furniture find without much trouble - give a girl a new dining table and she can do wonders with it!! Thanks for continuing to host our group, you do such a great job of keeping us on track. I hope you have a fun Halloween๐๐⬛๐งก
ReplyDeleteRita, your monochromatic Halloween table looks fantastic! The Spellbound appetizer plates are adorable and I love them on the Thistle and Bee dinner plates. And the cast iron salad plates are so unique. The MKC accent pieces fit perfectly with your theme and the feathered wreath with pumpkin and crow as centerpiece was brilliant - love that tiny pop of purple from the feathers. ReplyDeleteHi Rita, If eeriness can go elegant, you certainly achieved it. I was immediately taken in by the sophistication of your table. The gorgeous snake candle holders and the black and white checkered mushrooms. The varied salad plates are so charming and really shows up against the spider tablecloth. The centerpiece was a great choice with the feathered wreath. Such an exquisite dining room set. Perfect for your home. It is so much fun sharing Halloween with you.
ReplyDeleteRita- Your table is so much fun! I love the black and white spooky theme. The splash of purple adds an elegant tone as well as your plates. They are all beautiful! ReplyDeleteYou have every detail covered Rita, and I have viewed this post several times! It would be fun shopping with you, as I would have passed right by those snake candles and silver pumpkin with the crow. I need to start browsing Target and Homegoods more :-) I even missed seeing the Mackenzie-Childs mushrooms when they were offered. And that cute pumpkin head led you to your new table and chairs! I hope you have a fun Halloween.
ReplyDeleteYou have outdone yourself with this! Best Halloween table I have ever seen. ETShook
ReplyDeleteFirst-time Peek-In and thoroughly charmed!! All the netty and webby and glittery background, and the ssssilvery ssssnakes---I'm also intrigued by the picture/mirror/terrarium beside your little Halloween visitor. Are you truly a herpetophile? I sorta am--still mourning the loss of our fabulously-beautiful sulcata Paxton---five years old and 32 pounds, and my house-companion.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hostessing such a marvel of magical mystery!!
Rachel, thank you and welcome to my blog! No, I'm not a herpetophile. That case you caught a glimpse of is a vintage DuBarry Cosmetics display case, and houses some of my antique and vintage purse collection of mesh and beaded handbags. My reply just so happens to be written on National Handbag Day (Oct 10)! I'm sorry for the loss of your pet Paxton.
DeleteThat is the absolute cutest Halloween table setting I have ever seen! Those plates are so cute! Have a great weekend, dear Rita.
DeleteLove your table Rita! Those appetizer plates are perfect. Especially love the crow (or raven maybe) and the witches hat and broom! I love the monochromatic look and the subtle colour in the centrepiece feathers! But those snake candle holders are the showstoppers! So wish we still had Target stores here in Canada :( Thanks so much for hosting and Happy Halloween!
