Welcome to my blog, Panoply. Today I have a treat for you - some tablescape inspiration - sure to get you excited for spring! We are finally breaking dormancy here in my Zone 7a region after a fairly brutal winter. It's a bit later than last year's spring, which was more a testament to our revised (warmer) zone rating according to the 2023 USDA plant hardiness zone map.
In addition to my own spring tablescape, I am hosting a bevy of table artists and their ideas for spring and Easter tablescapes, too. Their direct links will be near the bottom of this post, so be sure to check them out!Just as spring is breaking dormancy, the colors of my spring / Easter tablescape for 2025 reflect much of what I'm currently seeing outside as the garden awakens: more light, more green, yellow and blue.
The springboard for this season's tablescape actually began last year. A trip to a local artist's pottery shop resulted in the bunny salad plates in my plate stack. This gal's pottery, which I've enjoyed buying over many years, incorporates some unique ideas. The clay mold for these plates were impressed with a rolling pin design!
I started a mood board with other table items in my stash. There's a feature in my phone that allows me to hold on a particular image in a photo and clip it. From there, I made a collage. I knew I'd incorporate these items and more for the look I wanted.
Once I started setting the table, I wanted more layers. The chargers I'm using have hand-painted streaks with yellow and green colorways. That prompted me to put the placemats beneath the chargers, adding a natural tone and texture. The placemats' shape also mimics the petals in the pattern of the tablecloth and napkins.I found some happy kalanchoe plants at the grocery. Kalanchoe is a type of succulent, a houseplant for any areas below tropical zones (10-12), as they do not tolerate frost. Their dainty flowers added to my table linen design with similar, small flowers. A couple of moss bunnies flank the center kalanchoe, which was placed in a cast iron planter with topiary design. The woven planters in which I placed the other two kalanchoes (on either side of the center) are actually the lampshades (!) for my cordless, rechargeable table lamps, used in this tablescape. I just turned them upside down. I love how the scalloped edges complement the placemats as well as the printed linens, which are trimmed in a solid green scalloped binding. Even the majolica dinner plates have a scalloped edge.
A few chocolate candy eggs and sheep were added as guest favors at each place setting. Green bubble glass stems, burnished gold flatware and bunny ear napkin rings were used to finish the table elements.
A few mercury glass votives were scattered on the table with flameless candles on timers for early evening glow.

Good morning, Rita! Your table is so fresh with your pops of green for spring, like the land awakening. What gorgeous plate layers topped with those adorable bunny plates from your local potter’s studio. Those embossed rolling pins are so fun, I have a couple and vow to use mine in the kitchen one day instead of on clay. 😊 I love your Bordallo Pinheiro plates, I’ve not seen that basketweave and leaf edge design before. . .so handsome and perfectly paired with your linens. I like how you think beyond the lamp. . .genius to use your lampshades upside down as planter! Thank you so much for the tablescape fun you provide with organizing our hops. I so appreciate you! Happy April💚
ReplyDeleteThose bunny salad plates are quite striking. That’s what my eye went to first, probably because of the elegance of the black. Black would not be a color that I would think of right off when considering a spring table, but it really works here. There are so many wonderfully clever ideas here, particularly inverting the lampshades to use as planters. I love that idea, and automatically thought of a couple of lampshades that I have that would work great for this. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pattie. The salad plates are actually a dark blue!
DeleteLove love love the tablecloth and matching napkins. The bunny ear napkin rings are super cute. It is fun to see all of your sweet tablescapes. Have a wonderful week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Rita! Your table with all of the pops of green is perfect to welcome spring. The table cloth and napkins you chose are so beautiful and look country French. The plate stack is gorgeous with the green majolica plates topped with the sweet bunny salad plates. Those bunny plates are so striking. I love how you used the lamps shades as flower pots for your pretty blooms. The sweet moss bunny is the perfect finishing touch. Thank you so much for hosting this hop. Happy April, sweet friend! ReplyDeleteRita, what a dish haven on this table. The vintage Bordallo Pinheiro dinner plates are fabulous! I don't think I've ever seen these. The unique handmade salad is the winner! I love the etched look. I must check out this ceramic artist's studio. The thought of such local studios takes my mind back to the 70s and 80s when Monnie and I would frequent weekend art fairs, buying handmade pottery. We parted ways with most of it when we moved into this home. It was heavy and our taste had moved on to other things, but a few special pieces still remain.
ReplyDeleteI smile at your use of greens and browns. As a gardener, it says spring to me! Love the way you used your moss bunnies and the white blooms. I need to talk to you about how you get such perfect over the table shots. I'm a klutz when it comes to such shots. I've tried, but can't get a good one.
Enjoy your spring weather and digging in the dirt. I know it's been a long winter for you! Happy Spring, my friend! Thanks for all you do to organize and make these blog hops fun and successful!
Rita, I adore those bunny salad plates and your layers are lovely! I'm also a fan of mossy accents and kalanchoes, particularly white like you've selected! Your table setting is a charming ode to the season--thanks again for hosting us!
ReplyDeleteRita I love the overhead view of your lovely table. Your plate stack is perfect and picking up the pattern of the tablecloth with the placemats works well. I also have an embossed rolling pin but all it does is sit in a crock and collect dust. 🥴 And I agree with Mary, using the lampshades as flower pots is so clever. I try to think outside the box too, especially since I have taken a self made vow to quit buying new pieces. I can't say I am always successful but I have been searching my home and stash of late and finding much more than I need. As I drive by World Market, Home Goods, Home Sense, Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc., I put on my imaginary "blinders". Now if I can work on my on-line shopping I could call it a success. Thanks for putting this hop together, I know the work involved. Hugs and Blessings always.🐑🐇🐥
ReplyDeleteWow, Rita! Those pottery plates are gorgeous, I love how you have complimented them so beautifully with the base plates, chargers and woven placemats. Your choice of table linens is perfect!! You have tied in all your textured wicker pieces so beautifully, it all makes for a lovely spring feel!! Thanks for all your work organizing us!! I enjoy these hops so much. I hope you have a wonderful spring and Easter 🌱🌷 🐰
ReplyDeleteA lovely table to welcome spring Rita. How unique the pottery plates are. They look fabulous with the vintage Bordallo plates. The wicker adds so much texture. The kalanchoe plants look amazing in the woven upside down lamp shades. Kudos for thinking outside the box. The tablecloth and placemats added another pretty layer. Love your overhead shot. Happy April. Thanks again for organizing yet another fun blog hop.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely table for Easter. I love the pottery plates. How clever to use lamp shades for flower pots! Brilliant! Your vintage Bordallo Pinheiro dinner plates are gorgeous. I am in the lookout for some. Everyone sitting at your Eastervtable will be delighted.
ReplyDeleteHappy April!
Wow Rita! I love the color combination of the plates. It is striking and somewhat atypical. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan!
DeleteRita, your table is just lovely! The bunny salad plates are so pretty and how lucky to have a local potter nearby. The vintage BP dinner plates are gorgeous and what a great find. I love all your scalloped edges and it was so creative to use the lamp shades as pot holders. The linens just say spring and I love how you created the center of your table with the delicate flowered plants that echo the pattern on the tablecloth and napkins. I know that you have had an exceptional winter (and not in a good way) and it was probably worse than ours, so I am very happy for you that you are finally breaking dormancy. Thank you for hosting these wonderful hops and happy spring and happy almost gardening season!
ReplyDeleteAll the green is very fitting for spring, the only thing missing is an Easter bunny chia pet.
ReplyDeleteHehe. With all the rain we've had this week, a boxwood topiary form would've grown from a baby bunny to a huge hare!
Deletethose bunny plates are just the best. Oh my -- I would have caved for those -- canoot resist a bunny! And I love the kolanchelo (sp) plants -- the white is so fresh and pretty. What a lovely tablescape!
ReplyDeleteRita, I always believe a tablescape which incorporates a sage/meadow green reflects so much of nature and for Easter, it makes the best color which exemplifies Spring. I love your tablecloth which gives a great foundation for the color. And who would ever guess your pot for your lovely florals is actually a lampshade. You are so creative! Your moss bunny is perfect for your table. I love all of the use of texture throughout your design. It is awesome that you included some unique, one of a kind pottery pieces that no one else might have. Truly gives a very personal touch. Have a wonderful Easter holiday!
ReplyDeleteYour spring tablescape is gorgeous in all the greens and golds. The bunny plates and the block print tablecloth are perfect. Nontraditional colors work so well here with the dark design of the bunny plates. We can always count on you to come up with a fresh new take on seasonal holiday tablescapes! Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteRita, I just love your new pottery pieces! They’re so unique and look so pretty on your plate stack. The tablecloth is such a sweet print and the plants are so beautiful in your creative planters! I’m going to remember that. Thank you for your creativity 💐
ReplyDeleteHandmade pottery is such a beautiful addition to any table setting and these are quite striking. they are perfectly set against the softer green of the cabbage-like plates underneath. I love the combination of earth tones that evoke the sense of fresh loam and early plantings in the garden. Your beautiful green and white tablecloth and napkins provide the perfect background for this lovely spring table. The napkin rings are quite fun and fit in nicely with the other bunnies on the table. Soft green glasses tie things together while invoking a feeling of freshness. Thanks so much for leading us again for this great spring hop.

I love that term "breaking dormancy." I hadn't thought of it that way before, but that is exactly what spring does! May God bless you with a wonderful spring season!
