Thanksgiving Fowl and Feast

Hello, and welcome to my blog, Panoply! Today I am sharing my tablescape creation for the Thanksgiving holiday, celebrated in America this year on November 28th. My tablescape celebrates the fowl and feast of this Thanksgiving holiday.
I am also pleased to be hosting a bevy of bloggers who also bring their table talents to you today. Their links will be found near the end of this post. You won't want to miss them!
While turkey is the most popular main course for an American Thanksgiving, my tablescape today celebrates an assortment of fowl for this feast. It starts with my salad plates from Williams Sonoma. The Pilgrim Gate collection features not only Tom Turkey, but also quail, duck and pheasant.
Carrying out the theme of various fowl, I set my plate stack on a base of pheasant placemats and locust wood chargers. Additionally, feather napkin rings accent the placemats. I felt the dinner plates accented the dinner plates as well. The bamboo flatware is intended to complement the chargers.
I love Juliska's 2015 Forest Walk collection, having purchased the salad plates several years ago. This year, I found the coordinating mugs for a good price on eBay. As is typical in tablescaping, mixing elements provides interest to the "outfit", much the same as when putting a clothing outfit together. The mugs are used in today's table. The pitcher, featuring a turkey, was found through Creative Co-op.
Estate sales consistently yield finds that I will foster, at least for a year or two. I'll then offer them in our Panoply antique and vintage goods booths two of my sisters and I have rented since 2008. My tablescape today has a few of those items on the table. They include vintage glassware, ceramic grouse, glass turkey salts & peppers, and glass turkey taper holders, as well as slim tapers.
Setting a seasonal table is a creative outlet for me. Finding beauty in small things and using them in my decor is part of what I enjoy in making my home feel cozy. Sharing my sources is simply a convenience to you, hopefully to inspire you. It also serves as my memory board.

Also in my dining room, I have a pair of chairs suitable for conversation or reading by the fireplace. This fall, I dressed them in Portofino pheasant toss pillows from a summer estate sale. I also couldn't resist the John Derian for Target textiles. The bird and acorn cotton throw is quite cozy, and the acorn and pear pillows are whimsical and fun.
Enjoy the rest of autumn, and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. If we focus on the positive, we all truly have so much to be grateful for. I am grateful for your readership today, and for my loyal readers, most of whom have become friends.

  1. Good Morning Rita, Your assortment of fowl are so handsome! Your tables are always such a wonderful mix of new and vintage/antique finds. I love the mix of masculine and feminine with the feather details of the placemats and napkin rings in contrast to the wood chargers and bamboo flatware. Your rechargeable lamps flanking the ends of your table provide such a nice glow and ambiance, especially now with the time change. Don’t you love all the John Derian accessories? I especially love those acorn pillows. I never saw that throw but admired the same pattern in the double pie carrier. Thank you so much for all your organizing efforts for our hops. I’m so thankful for you! πŸ¦ƒ 🧑

  3. Rita, I am thrilled to be part of the bevy of bloggers that Tablescape with you!!! I always enjoy your wonderful finds and how you work them in with new pieces. I am so bummed that I somehow missed the collab with Target and John D this year- not sure how- I am in Target all the time- but I adore that throw and the fruit pillows!! Pheasants were always a part of my Thanksgiving growing up , as my dad and uncles used to go pheasant hunting early in the morning while my mom was fixing the turkey. Your table sparks some early memories!! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving πŸ™πŸΌπŸ§‘
